ViewSonic VG2230WM (Black, Gray) LCD Monitor
|
Viewsonic have been in the business of making displays for quite a while now and they are generally known for high quality products. The VG2230WM is a pretty average 22 inch widescreen monitor. The maximal resolution is 1680x105 suitable for HD video and gaming and with a 5ms response time (grey to grey) there should be no ghosting issues. Contrast ratio is rated at 700:1 which is pretty mediocre. As far as design goes the display is rather well design and it is ergonomically quite adjustable with extensive height modification and a vast swivel range allowing change of the display angle. The VG2230 also has a pair of stereo speakers but in reality they are of little use as both quality and power are very poor. The OSD control buttons are located at the bottom right side which looks cool but makes them a pain to use thus making configuration quite irritating. Connectivity wise there are standard DVI and D-Sub (VGA) connectors and a plug for the speakers with no additional special speakers. The panel used here is a 6-bit TN panel which limited to 16.2m colours using dithering techniques. Albeit the colours aren't necessarily 100% accurate, they were pleasingly vibrant and enjoyable to watch. Another issue common to TN panel based displays is limited viewing- angles which is noticeable when shifting the vertical viewing angle. Overall performance, quality, brightness and sharpness are good but contrast and uniformity could be better but this is a rather minor issue.
