The quality of the design however really pales in comparison to the other aspects of this excellent player; as far as connectivity goes the XE1 is equipped with just about everything, there is an HDMI port compliant to the latest 1.3 standard and a Component output for high-definition output as well as more standard Composite and S-Video outputs for standard definition if used in collaboration with older TVs. For audio connectivity the XE1 really excels and includes both optical and coaxial digital outputs and quite uniquely there is also a built-in surround sound decoder with 5.1-channel analogue outputs. Being a Full-HD product the XE1 can output up to 1080p resolution for HD content as well as lower resolutions for standard definition content and is also capable of upscaling non-HD content to HD resolution, which it does superbly. Both video and audio are outputted at exquisite quality and when joined by an appropriate display device the XE1 offers a superb viewing experience. The XE1 is not only superb but is also reasonably priced making it all the more appealing.
