The TomTom One is intended for the GPS novice and users without exceptional demands as it lacks some features that are a standard in more sophisticated alternatives. The device is easily portable going at 3.8 by 3.2 by 1 inches and weighing 6.1 ounces. At the front there is a large 3.5 inch 320x240 pixel touch-screen which is bright and sharp. Connectivity wise there's an SD slot, a miniUSB port, and a power connector on the bottom while on the back you will find the system's speaker and a jack for attaching an optional antenna. Bluetooth connectivity is also supported. Maps are available via SD cards and there are various cards available with various map packages according to your location and needs. There are a number of options for picking your destination. You can enter a specific street address, an intersection, POI, or city center as well as your recent destinations. The One is capable of making real time adjustments and calculate routes by several sets of parameters to suit your needs. Once the route is set it can be viewed as a list of text-based turn-by-turn directions, as a highlighted route on an overview map or get a running demo of the trip and the map can be viewed either in 2D or 3D mode. While driving information remaining driving time, distance and estimated arrival time is displayed and all the visual cues are also backed by the voice-guided directions all of which work perfectly. Sadly text-to-speech is not supported.
