The Samsung SGH-U600 is a sleek, compact hi-tech cellular phone. It is quite thin and extremely light, yet still feels solid in the hand, due to its strong build. Even the slider mechanism, often a rather flimsy feature, feels good and strong, and catches in the closed position quite well.

Samsung has redone the menus and the buttons on this model, and this is good news. While the 'Call' and 'End' buttons would be nicer if they weren't just touch-buttons, the rest of the keypad is easy to use and the buttons are of sufficient size. The menus are easier to navigate, and there is even a search option for information on the phone.
Unfortunately, the call quality on the U600 isn't outstanding, and the speakerphone sound quality is just adequate. Furthermore, the phone's reaction to commands is sometimes slow, especially when loading photos, though this is manageable. And the U600 isn't compatible with all networks, necessitating an unlock code to open it for others.
But the display is fantastic, with a sharp, clear image even in direct sunlight. The camera boasts 3.2 megapixels and shoots high-quality pictures, and the camcorder works well too. The SGH-U600 also has Bluetooth, video playback support, Internet browsing and can connect a notebook to the web as well.
