The DS Lite is an improved, slimmer and sleeker version of Nintendo's previous mobile console, the Nintendo DS. One of the main down points of the original DS was a bulky, hefty design, and as the name indicates the DS takes care of that and does so while looking much more stylish and sophisticated. The only flaw with this redesign is that inserted GBA cartridges stick out slightly. The improvements implemented in the DS Lite are not restricted to design alone; usability and performance have been improved, such as increased brightness on the dual screens and better backward-compatibility with almost every Gameboy Advanced title. All these features combined with the already existing microphone-enabled gameplay, Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities and a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system make the DS Lite an excellent portable device. Like the original DS the Lite has a slot for Gameboy Advanced Cartridges, a slot for smaller DS cartridges, a headphone jack, an integrated microphone and touch-screen functionality. Compared to the PSP, which is the main competitor of the DS, the DS Lite lacks multimedia functions and still has inferior graphics, but we believe that the unique content and gaming experience the DS Lite offers are easily a match for the PSP's other qualities. Overall, the DS Lite is a polished improvement over an already excellent product and it shows.
