The Canon PIXMA MP210 is a highly affordable multi-function device which despite having such an appealing price tag does not fail to provide excellent performance and printing results that would not shame more expensive models. The scanner section on the top of the MP210 includes what Canon calls a “Z-lid”, upon lifting the top to the front and back you can place a book on the flatbed glass which works very well for low volume books but is ineffective for thicker manuscripts. The MP210 uses a black cartridge and a tri-colour one which are both rather easily installed while following the simple instructions including in the QuickStart sheet. Using the higher capacity PG-40 and CL-41 cartridges, you should pay 2.89p per black page and 6.09p per colour one making the MP210 economic as well. Canon advertises print speeds to stand at 14ppm for black and 9ppm for colour. However, in reality the results are closer to 6ppm and 3ppm accordingly, far less than the advertised figures but still reasonable for a home device. As far as print quality goes the MP210 delivers excellent results, Black text is sharp with no signs of ink smearing and graphic colours are also dense with little sign of stipple patterns and good registration of black text over colour. With the MP210 you also receive included software allowing for some image manipulation and supposedly even image enhancement to improve the quality of the final print. Overall this product has excellent value!
